June skiing on Aspen Mountain becomes a reality this weekend
June 10, 2008 —
No, this is not an error.
With resort officials reporting as much as three feet of snow still piled up atop Aspen Mountain, the famed hill will be open for a limited amount of skiing and riding June 13, 14, and 15.
Arapahoe Basin closed this past Sunday, June 8, as the last ski resort still open in North America. AJAX, however, looks like it will win that honor for the first time in memory if and when they open their lifts this coming weekend.
Seven runs and 45 acres of terrain will be werved by the Ajax Express lift, according to an announcement made today (June 10).
The Ajax Express chair will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. Skiers and riders must upload and download on the Silver Queen Gondola, which will be running from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
