June 9, 2010 — While the words Hot Summer Nights still don’t seem to roll off the tongue, thanks to Mother Nature’s fickle weather whims of late, the 2010 Bud Light Hot Summer Nights free concert series is just around the corner, featuring a weekly lineup that is guaranteed to make you revel in the recent sunshine. We promise.
Scheduled for a nine-week run on Tuesday evenings at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, the 2010 Bud Light Hot Summer Nights lineup will officially kick off June 15 with the jazz funk sounds of Soulive. All free shows get underway at 6:30 p.m., with the gates to the Ford Amphitheater open at 5:30 p.m.
“Tuesday nights during the summer are pretty much a given for the locals,” explained Ceil Folz, president of the Vail Valley Foundation. “It’s get off work, get home, get changed and get to the Amphitheater for Bud Light Hot Summer Nights. What started out as a weekly gathering of locals has turned into a major summer attraction for both residents and guests, and we now have people driving over from Summit County for the shows and a tremendous anticipation of the lineup every spring.”
Rounding out the musical offerings for the month of June will be the Reggae of The Aggrolites on June 22 and the Celtic rock of The Killdares on June 29.
The series will roll into July on the rock ‘n roll strains of Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights on July 6, while other mid-summer shows are scheduled to include the folk rock of Hoots & Hellmouth on July 13 and the soulful roots sounds of Laura Reed & Deep Pocket before taking a quick hiatus for the Vail International Dance Festival.
Dance will usher in August as well with the Bud Light Hot Summer Nights of Dance, featuring the hip-hop dance artistry of BreakEFX on August 10. Then, it’s on to the chart-topping rock of Toad the Wet Sprocket on August 17 before winding down the summer on August 24 with a tribute to The Police, courtesy of Message in A Bottle.
So rally around the sounds of summer every Tuesday at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater with the 2010 edition of Bud Light Hot Summer Nights. These days, we like the way summer sounds.
The Bud Light Hot Summer Nights free concert series and the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater are projects of the Vail Valley Foundation. For more information on Bud Light Hot Summer Nights, the Ford Amphitheater or the Foundation, visit www.vvf.org.
