November 29, 2009 — Thomas Jefferson wrote that “the will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government.” The Vail Valley Foundation wrote that “the will of the people will determine the March 31 Bud Light Street Beat band.”
As any good Chicago politician worth their salt knows, vote early and vote often in the Foundation’s newest online band selection poll and have your say in which of the five groups will take the stage for the free concert on March 31.
The Public Pick band choices include rockers Something Underground, the bluegrass of Spring Creek, Grateful Dead tribute band Shakedown Street, the Ska sounds of Liquid Cheese and the world music of Zivanai Masango & Pachedu. To cast your vote, visit www.streetbeatconcerts.com and check out video and music of the bands. The online poll is currently live and will remain open through December 10, with the final tallies announced on December 11.
“The idea of allowing the community to select one of our free concert series bands has really taken off,” said Michael Imhof, Vice President of Sales and Operations for the Vail Valley Foundation, “evidenced by the fact that we had a total of more than 13,000 votes in the Bud Light Hot Summer Nights Public Pick Poll. We’re looking forward to a great winter of taking free music to the streets of Vail and Lionshead and eagerly await the free shows on Wednesday evenings.”
The 2010 edition of Bud Light Street Beat officially kicks off January 13 at Checkpoint Charlie with Reggae legends The Wailers and features three additional venues including The Arrabelle at Vail Square, the new Solaris project and Golden Peak for the Korbel American Ski Classic. The series will come full circle April 14 with a Michael Jackson tribute concert dubbed Thriller featuring DJ Logic.
At each free concert, Eagle, Lake and Summit County residents will again have the opportunity to register to win the Volvo Grand Prize, a 2010 C30 T5 sedan, provided by Volvo North America and given away at the final show on April 14. At select concerts throughout the series, lucky audience members will be chosen for red-carpet treatment with special access to the Cricket Wireless VIP Viewing Area.
The 2010 Bud Light Street Beat free concert series is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation. For more information, visit www.vvf.org.
