October 2, 2009 — Vail Mountain recently announced that Grammy-nominated Barenaked Ladies will take the stage for a free concert on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Vail Snow Daze, the resort’s annual winter kick-off bash, scheduled for Dec. 7-13, 2009. Also included in the free concert lineup presented by Bud Light is Robert Randolph & The Family Band.
Vail Snow Daze celebrates the start of the winter ski and snowboard season in Vail with a weeklong schedule of contests, parties, giveaways and on-mountain events including the annual Dummy Demolition Derby under the lights at Golden Peak.
The free concerts for Vail Snow Daze mark a changing event philosophy for the resort. It comes on the heels of hugely successful free shows with Chris Isaac and O.A.R. at the close of the 2008-2009 season for Spring Back to Vail, which reached attendance levels of approximately 6,000 people in the heart of Vail Village. The strategy is part of Vail’s efforts to respond to the continuing challenges its guests are facing in the current economic environment.
“Vail is keenly aware of our guests’ challenges in this economic environment, and we will continue to send a loud signal that we value their business and work hard to win it. With this comes our commitment to free, first-rate entertainment for all of our guests as part of a guest experience they’ve come to expect. Spring Back to Vail last April was the start of this movement, and Vail Snow Daze this December is just the latest installment,” said Adam Sutner, director of marketing for Vail Mountain.
In addition to the evolving event model, Vail continues to remain on the forefront of the industry with added-value products and offerings that make coming to the mountain resort easier than ever. Alongside the unlimited, unrestricted six-mountain Epic Season Pass, Vail will also offer new on-mountain dining values including the daily $9.95 Lunch For Less, a Ski Free, Stay Free package and the unbeatable Kids Fly Free offer through a partnership with American Airlines. These and similar value-driven offers are all part of Vail’s commitment to giving back to the guests that have made Vail a leading mountain resort.
“We are proud to help bring such world-class acts to Vail Snow Daze. With the resources and assistance from Vail, we have brought this event to a level no one in the industry can match,” said James Deighan, Vice President of Highline Sports & Entertainment, the company that produces Vail Snow Daze and books the bands in conjunction with Vail Mountain.
Enjoy Vail Snow Daze with Stay Free, Ski Free packages as low as $336 per person. Purchase three nights of lodging and three days of skiing or snowboarding at Vail and get the fourth night and day free.
