'Jazz and Sip' series showcases Mercedes Dauphinais at Wolcott Yacht Club
August 10, 2009 —
It’s long been my belief that the Vail Valley’s per-capita production of artistic talent is remarkably high – and perhaps no one proves that point more elegantly than local vocalist Mercedes Dauphinais.
I’m admittedly bit biased toward Dauphinais, not only because she’s a long-time friend and a VMS grad, but also because hearing her music outdoors, under the shade of a breezy tree, seems to elevate the experience of listening to her music.
Time is running out, however. Dauphinais is headed to the big city out West to pursue her jazz vocals career – so the ongoing “Jazz and Sip” music and wine series at the Wolcott Yacht Club this August will be among the last times to hear her sultry voice for the foreseeable future.
Featuring Dauphinais and the music of the Harry Baxter Band (among others) the series began Monday, Aug. 10 and continues Aug. 17, 24, and 31.
The event cost $20 and includes a wine tasting of some of the best wines available in the Valley.
And, like our Valley’s musical talent, our wine seems to rate a notch above the rest.
