Ski and Snowboard Club Vail’s J5 racers take it to Powderhorn

The J5 Finale at Powderhorn ski area in far western Colorado last weekend brought more than 130 young athletes ages 8 through 10 from all over the Rocky Mountain division together for a championship event in Giant Slalom and Slalom.
Ski and Snowboard Club Vail's J5 assistant coach Barclay Rabin commented, “The level of competition at this event brought out the best in each of our athletes."
SSCV’s young racers competed against the best J5s in the division, including kids from New Mexico and Minnesota.
“The winning time of 1:05.27 put down by River Radamus made this GS course one of the longest we've seen,” coach Rika Moore said.
The club kids brought home four medals and 15 ribbons, and Ski & Snowboard Club Vail brought home more ribbons and medals than any other club at the event.
SSCV Boys
River Radamus laid down great runs in the GS and Slalom to grab three 1st places and one 2nd place.
Paul Cuthbertson had a 9th in GS and a 6th in SL
Colby Lange had two 5th places in GS and an 8th in slalom
Erik Weiss placed 6th in both GS races
Flinn Lazier had a 9th in slalom and a15th in GS
Patrick Scruggs placed an 11th in one of the slalom races
Alec Mauro placed 13th in one the slalom races
Jake Dippy got a 13th in one of the GS events and a 15th in slalom
Jacob Dilling placed 15th in one of the GS races
Ryan Collins had 17th in one of his GS runs
Peer Carnes placed 25th in one of his GS runs
Max Pierce got a 65th on one of his GS runs
SSCV Girls
Hannah Clauss placed 4th and 8th in the GS races
Nellie Talbot placed 5th in one of the GS runs
Evelyn Swift placed 7th in a GS and 12th and 14th in the slaloms
Haily Norvell got a 10th on one of her GS races
Zoe Livran placed 51st in one of the slalom runs
