Fresh dusting of snow, then tranquility in the forecast for Vail and Beaver Creek
January 10, 2009 —
Another storm is moving on as we speak (Jan. 9) and we will be under high pressure for Saturday and part of Sunday.
We will see our next shot of snow arrive Sunday from the north but it doesn't look to be a real news maker.
Saturday looks like a great day to ski with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the high teens and low 20s on the mountain. Lows overnight for the weekend will be cold, hovering right around 5 degrees.
Sunday will be cloudy with a small chance of snow, temps will be in the teens. Skies will again clear out for the beginning of the week and we will see tranquil weather for much of the week (Jan.12-16) as the storm axis pushes east.
Our long-range forecast for January looks good as we will see more storms move in mid/late month. Although we have an incredible season so far, off-piste skiing can be good this time of year, if you are planning trips out of ski area boundaries, please check avalanche conditions for routes that you may use.
