Ben Harper, Gov't Mule headline Spring Back to Vail
Expect huge snowpack for annual spring party set for April 7-13
By realvail.com

February 21, 2008 — Spring Back to Vail, a high-energy, end-of-season bash scheduled for April 7-13, started selling tickets for its headliner acts - Ben Harper and Gov’t Mule – on the event website www.springbacktovail.com on Feb. 19.

Gov’t Mule plays Dobson Ice Arena Thursday, April 10, and two-time Grammy Award winner Ben Harper plays an outdoor show in Ford Park on Saturday, April 12.

“The concert lineup this year is amazing,” said James Deighan of Highline Sports & Entertainment, the event producer. “Both Ben Harper and Gov’t Mule are known for their spectacular live shows. Having artists like these for Spring Back to Vail is what makes this the best spring bash in the country.”

With 11 albums and two Grammy awards to his name, Harper is the caliber of musician who has become a rarity in a world full of teen-pop sensations, according to Deighan. Backed by his band The Innocent Criminals, Harper specializes in a socially conscious blend of blues, funk, reggae, R&B and folk that’s earned him a legion of die-hard fans.

Gov’t Mule, formed in 1994 as a side project of the Allman Brothers Band, is a southern-rock-style jam band that has become a staple at music festivals across the country. Like many jam bands, Gov’t Mule did not build its broad fan base through radio play, but through extensive touring and great stage presence. With live shows that are known for big sound and impressive improvisations, Gov’t Mule has earned the respect of their fans and musicians alike.

General admission tickets are for sale online at www.springbacktovail.com and are priced as follows: Gov't Mule - $26 in advance, $36 after March 31; and Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals - $35 in advance, $45 after March 31. Tickets are also available locally at the Marketplace on Meadow Drive in Vail and the Bottle & Cork in Edwards.

Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals Private Reserve Package - $175. Includes: Ben Harper & Innocent Criminals custom lanyard and laminated credential; red carpet entrance through security and ticket line to concert venue; reserved viewing area with private bar and servers (catered food and beverage included); private restrooms; heaters; access to private reserve viewing area at Bacardi World Pond Skimming Championships at Golden Peak, 2-4 p.m. prior to concert

Special lodging and lift ticket packages will also be available during Spring Back to Vail: Buy three nights and get the fourth night free; rates starting as low as $417 per person and includes four days of skiing. Valid March 30-April 13. Call (800) 525-2257.

Each year Spring Back to Vail brings end-of-season entertainment to Vail Mountain with on-snow events, concerts, nightly parties, and the ever-popular Bacardi World Pond Skimming Championships. With more than 300 inches of snow so far this season and March the second snowiest month of the year (annual average of 64 inches), there should be fantastic late-season conditions.
